Mission: Possible VI

Where: Kokomo, Indiana

When: July 13-19, 2008

Hosted by: Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer

Mission: Possible VI is an opportunity for Lutheran Youth to minister to the community by helping needy families repair their homes. Work will include construction, painting, wheelchair ramps, and "handyman" tasks.

Mission: Possible VI participants will be working with people of all ages who are physically or financially unable to repair their property. They will be able to interact with people from various ethnic groups and economic backgrounds.

Mission: Possible VI will reflect our congregation mission:

  • to welcome people to faith in Jesus Christ;
  • to equip His followers with a maturing faith through word and sacrament;
  • and to serve in the world as Jesus served us.

Mission: Possible VI will strive to create an intentional mission-minded faith community through Scriptural study and the love of Christ in action as we serve each other, the local community, and the people whose homes we repair. We are convinced that even one week on such a mission will not only be exciting for servants but also potentially life changing.

We received requests via local service agencies to assist homeowners who qualify for financial assistance and need help with repairs to provide handicap accessibility, home safety and beautification.

This year's list of jobsites is incomplete. However, previously we have built or repaired wheelchair ramps and porches to assist the handicapped. We will made repairs inside the homes to accommodate the wheelchair-bound. Other jobs will included painting, making general repairs, plumbing, yard work, and roofing.
